To say Clarke is often credited with inventing this phrase would be pointing a common error. Anyone who has ever made the least of effort and listened to pre-bebop Jazz drummers, knows the phrase was used before Clarke. But you might say he popularized the phrase, because from his times to this day, it is the basic Jazz rhythm. And of course, it is very correct to say he "moved" the beat to the ride cymbal, which also considers standard Jazz drumming to this day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.19.81.153 (talk) 18:04, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
